How SIL, SDA and rent are paid
Three different things are paid three different ways. Knowing which is which makes the NDIS conversation easier.
Support (SIL)
NDIS funding
Pays for the support workers in the home — personal care, daily tasks, community access and overnight support.
Specially designed housing (SDA)
NDIS funding, if eligible
Separate funding for accessible or high-support housing, only for participants who meet SDA eligibility. Many SIL homes are not SDA.
Rent, food and bills
The participant
Usually paid from the Disability Support Pension. SIL funding can't be used for rent or groceries.
